KK4ICE

FCC Licensed Amateur Radio Operator, Extra Class

About KK4ICE

Greetings from KK4ICE, also known as “Dan.” I received my Technician Class license in March of 2012 and worked my way up through Extra Class in April and May of 2012. Amateur Radio provides me with both an enjoyable hobby and an opportunity to put my formal training and experience in both electronics and public safety to good use. I’ve made many wonderful new friends through Amateur Radio and I’m certain that as the years progress I will have the good fortune to add many more friends to the list.

My antennas include a Cushcraft Crossbeam 2M 20 element yagi beam, a home built G5RV, 80 and 40 meter cut dipoles, a homemade 2M/440 J-pole, homemade 3-Element 6M beams, and other experimental, home built antennas from time to time.

I also enjoy working various digital modes occasionally, repairing and (as you can tell) building equipment and antennas, as we;; as operating and maintaining repeaters.

I currently own and operate three coordinated repeaters:

  • 442.175(+) 123.0 analog FM located in the Gold Hill community of Opelika
  • 442.075(+) 123.0 analog FM located in the Shorter / Tallassee, AL area
  • 53.010(-) No PL analog FM located in Salem, AL

I serve as the Net Coordinator for the East Alabama SKYWARN Net, which covers the counties of Chambers, Elmore, Lee, Macon, Russell, and Tallapoosa in Alabama.

I hope to meet up with you on the air. If you’re finding this site because we recently had a QSO, then “thank you” for the opportunity to work the airwaves together! You can also find a bit more info regarding my on-air operations and interests by looking me up on QRZ. By the way, I prefer eQSL for QSL exchanges.
