Icom IC-7200 Being Installed In the Shack

Icom_IC_7200I recently purchased a used Icom IC-7200 which the previous (original) owner stated quit modulating after a lightning storm did a great deal damage at his home and in homes throughout his neighborhood. On inspection, it was confirmed that this was the case, although the radio was fine otherwise and had full, excellent power output. I shipped the rig to the guys at Clairmont Skyland Radio & Television and they quickly turned it around. They replaced the mic amp transistor and did a full alignment check on the radio and she’s good to go. It’s on its was back to me today and I hope to have it on the air by Monday evening.

The Icom 7200 is an excellent rig with outstanding Digital Signal Processing (DSP), filtering, and a built-in soundcard with USB interface, making it a breeze to connect to a PC running Ham Radio Deluxe and Digital Master 780. I look forward to getting back into digital communications, especially PSK-31 and some CW operation with the 7200.

Watch for forthcoming updated photos of the shack once the radio is installed.
